Beautiful Mask of a OBA Queen in bronze. The Queen has a very typical pointed hat with tribal figurations, and scarifications in the face.
Almost all Benin art was created to honor the king or queen, called Oba, who has reigned, with his ancestors, from the 15th century. Each is sculpted by hand, then cast in bronze.
Beautifully made, with plenty of details, tribal figurations on the head and lots of tribal scarifications on the face. It has a beautiful brown patina.
This mask is of high quality and was made with the - cire perdue technique- , and is therefore unique in its kind. Beautifully finished off in detail.
Good condition, but with signs of use and normal holes of cast glitches. Please study the photos well.
