Antique Framed NEEDLEPOINT of Porcelain Doll 1880

Description

Doll collectors will have a special place for this antique framed needlepoint of a porcelain doll dated 1880. Unsigned artisan. Needlepoint may not be as old as 1880, as the date may be a date for the style of doll, not necessarily when needlepoint was completed. The needlepoint is indeed old, however, and appears to have been in this antique frame for a long time. Image of porcelain doll, black hair, blue eyes (done in micro-stitches) in blue gown worked in wool yarn on dark tan needlepoint canvas of unknown age. Discoloration in upper left corner of canvas either from soiling or change in yarn color. Some missed stitches. Canvas crudely framed in original pre-1900 antique dark brown wood frame with decorative wood corner applications (top right corner left leaf decoration missing pointed end). Inner gold wash wood frame. Glass has no chips/cracks. Wired for wall display. Good, as-found condition.
