Description:
Antique Musical Automaton Baby in Basket RARE
The doll, when cranked, slowly rotates her body to the music. It's a subtle movement. There is a wind up mechanism on the back of the basket/barrel. Once wound, there is a small metal pull under her left arm on the basket that you must gently pull out to make her play music and rotate.
A little about the sticker on the bottom of the Base:
1897 Automata Exposition D'Art France:
The Brussels International Exposition (Exposition Internationale de Bruxelles) of 1897 was a World's fair held in Brussels, Belgium, from May 10, 1897 through November 8, 1897. There were 27 participating countries, and an estimated attendance of 7.8 million people.
The primary designers of the fair were among of the Belgian masters of
Art Nouveau
architecture at the height of the style, Disappointingly there seem to be few physical remnants.
