    Description

This is a pre-owned/used item.  This is a replica of a medieval military flail made by MUSEUM REPLICAS LTD/Windlass Steelcrafts.
Completely Hand Forged High Carbon Steel.
    The
    flail
is a weapon consisting of a striking head attached to a handle by a flexible rope, strap, or chain.  The chief tactical virtue of the flail was its capacity to strike around a defender's shield or parry.  Its chief liability was a lack of precision and the difficulty of using it in close combat, or closely ranked formations.
    The medieval military flail (
    fléau d'armes
    in French and
    Kriegsflegel
in German), consisted of a wooden shaft joined by a length of chain to one or more iron-shod wooden bars,
    or a
    Kettenmorgenstern
("chain morning star") with one or more metal balls or morning star
in the place of the wooden bars.
    Wooden Shaft: 22"
    Chain and Spikes: 16"
    Overall: 38"
    Weight: 6 lbs
