Spyderco's Delica has been a cornerstone of their everyday carry product line since its introduction in 1990. The 4th Generation of the Delica lightweight was upgraded with a 13 mm RoundHole, spine jimping, reinforced blade tip, skeletonized liners, Bi-Directional Textured FRN scales and a four-position screw on clip. Adding style to the Delica line is the unique Zome handle series. This Limited Run distributor exclusive comes with a fully flat ground, black finished, plain edge VG10 blade and Glow-In-the-Dark Desert Zome FRN handles.
Zome is an ancient Japanese dyeing technique known as Zome (pronounced "zoh-may") is a special technique for dyeing textiles and creating patterns using dyes from plants, flowers, fruit and other natural sources. Spyderco uses these special dyes to completely permeate their FRN handles uniquely and permanently coloring them.
Blade: Fully flat ground VG10 stainless steel comes in a modified drop point with a razor sharp plain edge and black finish. Spyderco's ambidextrous Round Hole opener makes for smooth, easy, one hand operation. Present as well is the jimped thumb ramp for added control in both fine and heavy work. Just under 2.5 inches of cutting edge makes this an excellent cutting tool you will want to have with you every day.
Handle: Spyderco's Bi-directional textured FRN in Desert Zome offers exceptional traction in the hand with contoured edges and an ergonomic design that delivers comfort in the hand until the job is done. This Limited distributor exclusive is further enhanced with a Glow-in-the-Dark base to the FRN for added style and easy location in low light conditions. A sturdy mid-back lock design is easy to operate and comes with the Boye Dent further enhancing the security by preventing accidental disengagement of the lock when gripping the handle with heavy pressure. A hole at the pommel end allows for easy lanyard attachment. At under 2.5 ounces in weight and 2.5 inches of cutting edge the slim carry Delica offers an excellent edge:weight performance ratio.
This knife carries via a 4-position, black hourglass pocket clip.
Japanese VG10: VG-10 is a high-carbon stainless steel that takes a very good edge and holds it well. Popular with Japanese kitchen knife makers it is often hardened to 60-61 HRC. A popular choice for small pocket knives thanks to good edge holding and stain resistance. VG10 works well with a high polished, acute edge for optimal slicing performance.
