For your consideration is a superb example of a Mahogany 1921 Victor Victrola 50, one of the finest acoustic-era portable disc phonographs ever produced. Start your 2020's with 1920's engineering and craftsmanship excellence. If you have been looking for a special portable phonograph for your antique automobile or for a personal collection, here is a rare opportunity to consider.
The original shellac finish on this Mahogany Victor is lustrous, as you can see. These portables were designed for rugged travel use and while most have suffered from mishandling over a century, this example is the exception. The cabinetry is tight and solid. This was clearly a phonograph that was held in high regard by its original owner, 101 years ago.
This phonograph's original nickel plated hardware is bright and shines like jewelry. On the inside the turntable retains its original wool felt, free from unsightly oil stains or grease spots.
The substantial one spring Victor motor is solid and all original. It has been lubricated appropriately and is strong and quiet, easily playing through a couple 78 rpm records with a full winding.
The original Victrola Number 2 reproducer has been rebuilt with a fresh red rubber gasket, just like the factory originals, and tuned for optimal performance. Very few Victrola 50's exist that look this good, and fewer that sound this good.
Included with this machine are 3 eclectic
78 rpm discs, including the hot Jazz record playing in the video.
    With
these records you can enjoy this phonograph right out of the box. This phonograph will safely play all standard lateral cut 78 rpm shellac records. There are also countless hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of shellac 78s available on Ebay and likely in local antique shops. If you are seeking any particular titles or artists, let me know and I will check to see if I might have what you are looking for in stock. Set up and operating instructions available upon request.
