Vajen Bader Smoke Protector Firefighting Helmet w/ Air Tank/Pump in Original Box
– Museum Quality.
The Vajen-Bader Patent Smoke Protector of the 1890's and early 1900's sealed off the wearer's head from the environment and supplied breathable air from a compressed air cylinder on the back of the helmet. The helmet was fabricated by Vajen Helmet Co. in Richardson, Indiana.
Details:
• Hand-stitched black chamois leather, functional chest straps, back leather straps with metal buckles for air tank, nickel-plated bronze eye pieces retain the original double mica lenses with operational or rotary cleaners
• Vajen compression tank and accessories/tools. Operational valves and pressure gauge with original glass, pressure adjustment key, melted rubber balloon that would have attached to the metal whistle
• Original wood storage box and hardware
Box also contains an air pump and hose. The hose sustained fire damage and doesn't work.
