Vintage 1950's Child's Height Chart. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. This charming 1950's height chart was copyrighted in 1949 by the Dolly Toy Company. Its design is based on the "Hickory, Dickory, Dock" nursery rhyme and features a Disney-like mouse running up the left side of the clock. It is made of a durable 1/4" paperboard and its vibrant colors have not faded over time. This chart separates into two pieces, allowing the actual height measurement of the child to range anywhere from 24" to 60". The chart is 11.5" at its widest point; fully extended length is 42", but only 24" when the lower piece is hanging over the top piece as shown in the first photo. The original owner's markings for her child are marked in blue ink, beginning in 1956, with the last in 1967. The final two ink notations actually extend above the chart's limit of 5 feet.
The two pieces are "hinged" with the original red tasseled cord. When the lower piece is not extended it hangs on a metal hub, revealing the clock design which includes a clock face with adjustable hands for helping the child learn how to tell time. The condition is excellent for a paper/cardboard piece of this age. There are a few worn corners in addition to the blue ink notations, but the overall piece is very clean and would lend a whimsical and retro impression to any nursery.
